Mrs. Shanti Bai, a Lambani woman working in Kendra since twelve years was awarded 'National Master Crafts person's Award for the year 2001. She is one of the youngest recipient of this prestigious award. Her piece, a 5 ft x 3 ft embroidered wall hanging, designed and developed by her with guidance given by Ms. Laila Tyabji, Chair person, M/s. Dastkar, New Delhi is a vibrant example of how traditional motifs, colors and stitches and extraordinary technical virtuosity can be combined to create something with universal contemporary appeal. It is also a testimonial to the support received for the Sandur Kushala Kala Kendra by Mrs. Shanthi Bai and other tribal women like her.
